You Look After The Business, We Look After The Books

Jobs - April 2017

Junior Bookkeepers (no experience necessary)

We are currently expanding throughout the London region. What we are looking for:

  • Bookkeepers, Finance Assistants, Financial administrators
  • Part Time hours - therefore: 1 day or 2 days or 3 days per week only
  • No experience required, BUT
  • We expect you to be part qualified... whether its a basic bookkeeping certificate, part AAT or part CIMA or part ACCA
  • It is helpful if you have an understanding / background in accounts / bookkeeping

The recruitment process

Step 1 - Send in your CV & covering letter to jobs@booglesltd.com (let us know where you saw the job advertised).

Step 2 - We'll sift through CVs and phone those that look suitable.

Step 3 - We'll invite you into an interview and give you a short test on bookkeeping. This isn't to 'catch you out', (you're not back at school), but we simply need to see if you have a clue or are just trying it.

Step 4 - If successful, (you like us, we like you), then you'll be invited onto our training programme - which can be done from home. We'll show you how to use Quickbooks, Xero and Excel. Allow approx 2-3 days for this.

Step 5 - We invite you to work in the office for 3 days (We'll pay you for your travel and lunch). You'll be given a client job to do, on Quickbooks.

Step 6 - We'll check the work. If we have a suitable job, we'll run it past you and you are free to accept it (or not). No-one is forcing you. We try and place our team with a local client so that its convenient for you and you don't have to travel too far. We will try our best to match skills, availability and location.

Person Specification (who are we looking for)

If you are a friendly, reliable and easy-going person, and would like to become a boogle, we would be delighted to hear from you.

You need to be calm, have common sense, can follow instructions and work under your own steam. You will be on site at the clients premises, so if you are the type who needs a lot of hand-holding, then you won't enjoy this job.

You'll be given a diary, and we just need you to be available, 1-3 days during the week. Whatever you do with the rest of your time - is up to you. Many of our team have other duties, so they may work part time e.g. 10:00 till 2:30 for 2-3 days, or 2 full days a week. If you are looking for full time work - please do no apply.

We won't throw you in at the deep end - hence the training, but you need to come with some sort of background knowledge on the subject, otherwise you will struggle because accounting is a process which involves debits and credits. What you don't need is 'experience' but you do need some sort of qualification or understanding of bookkeeping. Even if its been at college, or studying.

We have a pension scheme, give 28 days holiday per annum and also offer opportunities to earn above the basic, via our bonus and commission policy. Other benefits: staff can come on any of our training courses for free. We can train you in a plethora of accountancy systems should you want to learn them e.g. Kashflow, VT, Clearbooks, Freshbooks. Wave, Free Agent, Accountz, Gnu Cash, Sage, Myob, Mamut, Pastel, Zoho, Liberty, Solar, Quickfile, Moneysoft etc.,

Job Description (the type of work you can expect to be doing)

Please note that we are not "accountants", and as such don't do any 'accountancy' work i.e. Corporation tax returns and year end accounts etc.,

We do the basic bookkeeping. This could entail:

  • Invoicing and receiving payments
  • Supplier bills and making payments
  • Banking
  • Bank reconciliation
  • VAT Returns
  • Payroll entries (journals), but not necessarily running the payroll

The preparatory training to do from home covers all of the above, and we hope it is a refresher. If you have not studied accounts before and have no experience of the above, then please don't apply because you will not learn this stuff in 3 days. Take a course at college, then come back and apply.

We prefer AAT qualified people, because it is an extremely practical qualification, and this is a very practical, hands-on type of job.
